The flowering quince is one of those shrubs that is easy to grow and very rewarding. It is an old-fashioned shrub with old-fashion appeal. This particular cultivar is mostly thornless and has beautiful double bloom bright pink flowers that transition from a lighter to darker orange on bloom. Blooms come before the leaves. In the south this is March, further north you'll see blooms in April. The low profile and open nature of the quince makes it perfect for areas with other fuller plants, such as ornamental grasses or perennial flower beds.
