Discovered in Cincinnati Ohio, this cultivar has huge 5 inch flower bracts that blanket the tree in early spring. The volume and size of the flowers dwarf most other cultivars and really are a sight to behold when cornus florida is in bloom. Growing to be around 20 x 30 ft. wide and high it will grow to be a striking specimen tree for a larger yard or garden. We are growing this as an alternative to the Cloud Nine dogwood due to more consistent flowering and enhanced tolerance to pathogens.

Dogwoods are beautiful trees and hold a special meaning to many who grew up in the eastern half of the United States. For many, to experience spring is to experience cornus florida in full bloom. All of us have different memories of the dogwood and unique conditions in which to grow them, which is why we provide such a wide-range of cultivars in our selection. Dogwoods take some work, but are the kind of tree that creates lasting memories through your life.

When choosing a dogwood it is important to remember that dogwoods evolved as moderate growers that prefer the edges of forests. They are a species evolved to partial sunlight and rich humus soils. We strongly recommend that you have one of these two qualities in your yard to grow the traditional North American Dogwood. If your dogwood will be planted in lower quality soil we recommend it have partial shade, if it will be planted in full sunlight we recommend it be planted in soil that is rich in organic matter. Almost all dogwoods will require supplemental watering in their early years and during hot/dry periods.
