The 'Celestial Shadow' Kousa Dogwood is a very unique specimen of dogwood that stems from the Rutgers line of hybrid disease resistant dogwoods. One extraordinary feature is the green and canary yellow variegated leaves. These leaves retain their variegation through the year and also result in a kaleidoscopic fall display of purples, reds, and pinks. With abundant white flowers, this dogwood is sure to be a stand out feature in your garden all year long.

My new FAVORITE nursery!

Super glad to have stumbled upon New Blooms Nursery in my search for Celestial Shadow Dogwood! Impressed by quality of specimens!! All plants were well-packed with obvious care, and shipping was lightning fast!!! Also ordered a Witch Hazel (which was a thrilling find). Both specimens are coming out of dormancy nicely, and both seem very healthy. Pricing was competitive! The free shipping was such an appreciated bonus.

beautiful variegation and fall color!

Beautiful trees! Purchased 2 from New Blooms in the beginning of 2020. Now 8 to 9' tall in November 2022. (No fertilizer, just mulch and rare deep waterings a few times in the second year. Weekly to biweekly watering over the first year until well established)
Would definitely purchase again. Highly recommend the trees and New Blooms Nursery.
Beautiful, much brighter red fall color than our regular white or pink Florida dogwoods.
The few blooms already produced have been beautiful and persistent (wasn't supposed to bloom until 3rd or 4th year in the ground).
1 note, the variegation begins to fade noticeably by mid June in our humid zone 7/8 garden in Norfolk, Virginia.
Barely 2 tone green when you walk up to it by late summer.
But the underlying variegation brightens the fall color noticeably.
Only Summer Gold has maintained full yellow outer variegation into November leaf drop. But Summer Gold will remain a tiny dwarf tree. More of a pretty stick than a pretty, small shade tree.
Would definitely go with Celestial Shadow for a beautiful small shade tree.

the tree has not leafed out yet but it arrived in beautiful condition and it came in a potted plant WITH dirt. I was happy it did not come in a sealed bag because sometimes too much moisture destroys the plant(s) and you can't revive them.
