Description
Looking for a redbud that is red/pink rather than the traditional purple/pink? The Appalachian Red Redbud is another beautiful cultivar of our classic native the Eastern Redbud tree with red blooms. It still has the small, clustering flowers that pop out to decorate the branches in early spring, but the blooms emerge in an attention grabbing red/dark pink with flowers that open a brilliant fuchsia-pink. The contrast between these colors is both novel and eye-popping.
When planted in full sun the redbud will have a more well-rounded, symmetrical tree form which makes it a beautiful specimen tree to highlight a garden or to place beside a patio. The redbud tree can also be planted in partial shade or partial sun which will create a more open, irregular shape as the limbs branch out looking for the sun. This open look, as well as the bright flowers, adds dimension and color to a shaded garden.
