We were so impressed by the tidy foliage, reasonable size, and large profuse long-blooming flowers of the Sombrero series that we had to go back for more.  Baja Burgundy has all of the winning characteristics of Sombrero line, but gives you multiple shades of red and dark pink with the characteristic dark central cone. These coneflowers are of medium height and work well in the middle to back of beds, under windows against fences and under trees. The blooms are profuse and the many shades of red are an sight to behold. We find these start to bloom at the tail end of spring and continue so profusely well into late summer they trail off with few, but no less fabulous blooms until the fall frost.

Coneflower, also known as echinacea, is a wonderful perennial native to the U.S. midwest and prairies. It does best in a light loamy soil, but will do well in any well-drained soil. Full sunlight and heat are best for full flowering, while they can tolerate some light shade, we recommend at least 6 hours of full sun each and every day. Once established they are very drought resistant making them a great plant for those looking for a low water/ low maintenance garden. As a perennial flower, if cared for correctly echinacea will return with new growth each year. It's a star of the garden easy to grow, native, and keeps a long-lasting bounty of color all summer and well into fall.
