The white oak is a beautiful shade tree used in many settings. These large trees are seen providing shade to country homes and farms or adding beauty to urban parks and neighborhoods. The white oak maybe slow growing but they are versatile and long in life. They have a beautiful form with a large, rounded canopy. The foliage is a large, blue green leaf that turns a purple red in the fall. The white oak also produces acorns in the fall that is great for attracting wildlife.  Due to its size oaks are usually planted as a specimen tree with enough room to grow, but the white oak is adaptable to partial shade making it good to plant along a forest edge to add to the wild habitat of a property.
