High fashion is one of our hardy evergreen azaleas that can tolerate our northern climate. The profuse coral orange blooms of this plant provide outstanding spring color to any partly shaded area of your yard. The flowers are large and maintain a beautiful orange/red color for about two weeks. Here in our area they will bloom in mid-April for about 2 weeks. A hedge of these in a shady spot under a window or at the back of a garden bed provides outstanding color.

Caring for Azalea - High Fashion
Azaleas benefit from slightly acidic soil and well draining soil with organic matter. Tilling in compost 30% to 70% original dirt and mulching well are two ways to help your azalea succeed. Raised beds are also an option, but the soil must be kept moist. Shade is also an important element of success so make sure that the plant has shade especially during the heat of the afternoon.
