Shipping live trees is a balancing act between survival and cost.
Standard Shipping
Our standard shipping practice aims to keep costs as low as possible. We remove the tree from the pot, gently wash off the dirt, and pack the tree in a moist material and a plastic bag. This is a great method, but to maximize survival we only ship trees during two windows:
- February to mid-May
- October to December
These windows can vary due to weather, but generally remain consistent. For this reason, if you want the best deal you should order early.
Potted Shipping
Outside of those windows we know that there are good opportunities to plant a tree or gift a tree. For this reason, we also offer potted tree shipping. This method costs more, but we leave the roots undisturbed in the pot, wrap it in plastic and ship it you. So, if you want a tree outside of our standard window or simply want it in a pot, choose potted shipping from February to December.
