Aster is a perfect fall plant. Showers of pink flowers emerge in unison from densely packed foliage just as our collective consciousness creeps towards pumpkins and changing leaves. If you are looking for a vibrant color in the fall garden, pink crush might just be the perfect plant for the job. It works well in border plantings, mass plantings forming round fully covered pink mounds that have a uniform bushy appearance. It's also a great option for fall container plantings giving you color as you close out the growing season.

Aster novae-angliae 'Pink Crush'
Asters appreciate rich, evenly moist soil and lots of sun. They grow to be full and quite large so give them lots of room for air circulation as powdery mildew can be a problem. This cultivar is smaller than most, but still consider pinching plants back from late spring until July 4th to keep them compact for the fall bloom period. Divide aster every couple of years in the spring to maintain healthy plants.
