This classic North American nativar has been a staple in gardens around the world for decades. It is an excellent performer and a great choice for beginning gardeners due to its ease of care. Foliage is full and light, while the upright stems don’t collapse. Jethro Tull is sought out as the go to yellow/orange coreopsis. It is well known for its coloration and hardiness that it stands out among other cultivars and pairs brilliantly with purples and yellows in the garden. It is a classic coreopsis that is asked for by name at garden centers around the country.

Coreopsis or tickseed is an excellent plant for any garden because it is easy to grow and also packs a big punch. This little native is great for those looking to bring more native plants back to the yard, but it is as beautiful as anything else you’ll find. Starting in late spring/early summer the small flowers on Coreopsis start coming and then they keep coming and coming and coming in large flushes until the end of the growing season with no need for deadheading.

Tickseed makes a great cut flowers and the long lasting blooms will keep your garden looking great through much of the year. Native to North America, when it comes to disease resistance and ease of care coreopsis is hard to beat. Grow in full sun and soil that drains in the winter months.

Small and unimpressive

Far smaller and less healthy than expected. Save your money and buy local - it will be twice the size, fuller and healthier.
