Little Henry® Sweetspire delivers three seasons of ornamental impact in a tidy, compact package. This dwarf Virginia sweetspire forms a dense, uniform mound reaching 2 to 3 feet tall and wide, producing an abundance of pure white, bottlebrush-like flower racemes in early summer that drape gracefully across the foliage. The lightly fragrant blooms open gradually from base to tip, extending the floral display for several weeks and drawing in butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds throughout the bloom period. As temperatures cool in autumn, the lustrous green foliage ignites into vivid shades of scarlet and burgundy—a fall color display so striking it rivals that of burning bush without any of the invasive concerns.

Little Henry® thrives in full sun to full shade across USDA Zones 5 through 9, making it one of the most adaptable native shrubs available for residential and commercial landscapes. It performs best in moist, slightly acidic soils but tolerates a remarkably wide range of conditions including clay, periodic flooding, and established drought. That versatility opens the door to countless applications: rain gardens, bioswales, streambank stabilization, foundation plantings, low hedges, mass plantings on slopes, and woodland borders all suit this shrub beautifully. Its compact, well-behaved habit requires minimal pruning, and deer tend to leave it alone—a welcome trait for gardeners battling browse pressure.
