The north star cherry is a dwarf cherry that is perfect for growing food in a small garden or yard. Even though it has a small 8-10-foot-wide stature, the north star will still provide you with baskets of ripe slightly sour desert cherries that are perfect for pie, baking, or canning for a topping. The north star cherry also scores points if you are looking for a fruit tree that will add ornamental beauty to your yard. It has a consistent symmetrical vase-like shape that makes it a compliment to any ornamental garden and in the spring it will be loaded with blossoms. It is disease resistant and one of the few self-pollinating varieties of cherries making it less maintenance than most varieties. If you have limited space and want a multipurpose tree, which adds edible fruit, beauty to your landscape, while attracting birds and wildlife to your yard the north star cherry is a great choice.
