The distinguishing characteristics of the 'Satomi' or 'Miss Satomi' kousa dogwood cultivar are a gentle layered form, blooms that open white and transform into a luxurious pink, and red edible fruits. Kousa dogwoods have a later and longer bloom time and the flowers will last around 6 weeks from June to July. In the fall the fruit ripens and 'Satomi' dogwood leaves turn a deep purplish red. The mature height of this tree is 15 to 20 ft. with a mature spread of 15 to 20 ft. Like most kousa dogwoods the Satomi should be pruned carefully by someone with experience to maintain and enhance the elegant layered appearance.

Healthy and beautiful leaves! Trying to buy another but it’s currently out of stock!
About 2 weeks after I planted my dogwood, I emailed Travis, anxious my tree wasn't breaking dormancy. He had me send a pic, then quickly reassured me that the buds looked healthy and almost ready to open. A month and a half later, my tree is leafed out and beautiful. I love this little tree. I ordered on April 26th or 27th and received and planted it on April 30th. It came bareroot and dormant with a very healthy root system. It's now May 23rd and it's got lots of leaf buds and is 4 feet from the ground. I love it and can't wait to see it flower.
