There are a lot of white phlox out there—but Fashionably Early Crystal isn’t just another face in the crowd. This one is crisp, clean, and cool as a cucumber martini. No filters, no edits—the flowers are a luminous, snow-white with just the faintest kiss of lavender at the eye. It’s the kind of white that makes other colors pop harder and gives your garden that elegant, pulled-together look without even trying.

At around 2.5 feet tall, ‘Fashionably Early Crystal’ is tall enough to hold its own but compact enough to work in most garden beds and borders. It blooms earlier than your typical paniculata phlox, giving you a head start on that glorious mid-summer color—and it doesn’t quit when the heat turns up. This variety just keeps going, blooming with vigor while others are wilting.

Pollinators love it too—hummingbirds, butterflies, and all your buzzing garden friends can’t resist the sweet, candy-like fragrance. It plays beautifully with almost any palette—pair it with purples, pinks, or even brighter colors like yellow or coral to bring harmony to your bed. It’s a garden blender and a quiet showstopper all in one.

Mildew. If you’ve grown phlox before, you’ve probably been burned by that dreaded white fuzz. Not here. The Fashionably Early series was bred with strong mildew resistance, and ‘Crystal’ holds up in heat and humidity like it’s ready for the runway.

Fashionable? Yes. Fragile? Absolutely not.

General care for any tree or shrub is easy, but like any living thing will require your attention. Please educate yourself and follow these simple rules.

Phlox Fashionably Early Crystal

Hybrid phlox as a plant takes and average amount of care. It grows well when planted in a mulched bed with good well-drained soil and benefits from deadheading. Phlox grows best in rich, moist soil in full sun. It will thrive with fertilizing every other month and consistant moisture levels. Overhead watering should be avoided since some varieties of phlox are susceptible to powdery mildew. This can be avoided or diminished by providing ample air circulation around the plants and by thinning them out periodically. Deadheading will prolong bloom time and prevent self-seeding.
