If you are looking for a low mounding early spring phlox that won’t take over an entire bed, this hybrid is a great choice. Purple Sprite is part of a series of spring phlox specifically designed to keep a uniform low mounding shape and be covered with terrific bright purple flowers. It blooms about a week later than Phlox subulata and will still bloom profusely in some light shade. Pretty purple flowers with a white halo center. These phlox are perfect for a splash of early season color. Plant them throughout the border or along a walkway to add color to the garden in the early spring.

Hybrid creeping phlox is an easy to grow versatile ground cover for full sun or light shade. Good drainage is essential; it prefers soils with some sand that is PH neutral. Shear back foliage in the early summer after the first bloom as this will create a nice dense foliage through the summer and the occasional rebloom. Can be divided every 2-3 years in the summer following its bloom period.
