Clethra is an interesting and fun native shrub that is useful in a number of circumstances due to its tolerance of shade and wet conditions. It grows to around 3-4 ft. tall/wide and in late summer it transforms with bunches of upright 2-6" inch panicle flowers, which butterflies and pollinators love.

Ruby Spice Clethra - Summersweet
A great low-maintenance native plant that pollinators love. Prefers medium, well-drained soil, but is adaptable to many soil types and will tolerate wet conditions (not standing water) once established. Best shape if left unpruned and requires very little to no maintenance - although suckers may appear around plant and require pruning.
