Description
This large tree makes an excellent early spring attraction for your yard. The saucer magnolia is beautiful flowering tree that produces large, sweetly smelling flowers in the spring. The 5-10 inch flowers are a purplish pink on the outside that open up to a light pink inside. It also has the glossy, dark leaves of the magnolia varieties that will come on after flowering. This versatile plant can be formed as a tree which will develop a short trunk look, but it will have a well-rounded crown with low-lying branches, which is great for seeing the flowers and immersing yourself in the sweet perfume. It can also be formed to have more of a shrub look with multiple trunks which works well as a border plant.
