Sunspire Magnolia

Columnar magnolias are fairly rare, so we try to make certain that Sunspire remains part of our lineup here at the nursery. Coming it at 20-25 ft. tall and 6 to 8 ft. wide Sunspire offers a number of design options that other yellow magnolias simply don't. In grouping of 3 to 5 these trees can provide a decorative accent to a narrow side yard or drive. As a single or clump they can accent a patio, garden bed, or the corner of as house looking like natural columns. In the summer bright green foliage is full and fresh-looking, but it is spring when the yellow magnolia separates itself from its peers. Starting past the threat of frost, yellow tulip-like flowers emerge blanketing the tree as leaves are just emerging. The large yellow pedals make them a great combination with other trees spring pinks, purples, whites and reds.

These trees are fairly easy to care for, they require little pruning and will do well in most soils, but like most trees thrive in well-drained soil rich in organic matter. For lighting we suggest full sun for best blooms, but they can do well even in partial sun.
