Sweetshrub a nice versatile shrub that has a beautiful, unique, rust red flower that come on in late spring. This is a native shrub that is known for its fragrance. Though the intensity of the blooms fragrance may vary it is described as having a sweet, fruity smell that attracts pollinators. Even the leaves have a fruity scent when crushed. The sweetshrub has a nice rounded shape that can be pruned to keep a dense form when grown in a formal setting or left alone for a more natural look. The leaves are a dark, glossy green through the summer and turn a nice shade of yellow in the fall. Sweetshrub makes a nice specimen plant or it can be used to make a unique hedgerow.
